Perth, WA, Australia
At age 8, Perth hip hop artist, Marksman Lloyd wrote his first song. It was a little ditty called "You gotta believe in yourself". Not only did he get a smelly sticker for the song at school but he took that advice and rolled with it. Marksman started writing rap at 13. At this age he made his first recorded song over a beat off the Deathrow Records website which he recorded onto a cassette tape. His Mum loved it. His first performance was freestyling in front of breakdancers at a hip hop workshop he attended at 15.
Fast forward 10 years and you have a man who has put the time in to hone his craft. With a resume that now boasts shows in Singapore and the U.S as well as support spots for some of the finest in the genre including international acts Brother Ali, Fashawn and Apollo Brown and acclaimed Australian artists Seth Sentry, Grey Ghost and TZU.
A love of lyrics has also sent him venturing into the spoken word poetry scene, coming runner up in the Australian poetry slam at the Sydney Opera House in 2008 as well as performing at poetry events around the country.
With thought provoking, story driven songs a little tongue in cheek and production that will leave your neck sore the talented Perth artist (part of the Perth based music and arts collective "The Community") is an act not to be missed.
