Thousands have uploaded the Arabic letter 'N' to their social media profiles. Short for 'Nasrani' - the Arabic word for Christian - the online campaign has sprung up as a show of solidarity with Christians in war-torn Iraq.
Islamist insurgents are believed to have given the dwindling population of Christians in the northern city of Mosul a threatening ultimatum - either convert to Islam, pay a £50,000 religious tax called a 'jizya', or face death. The al-Qaeda-inspired Isis group (The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) have spray-painted the Arabic letter on the homes of thousands of Iraqi Christians to identify them.
By sharing the symbol online, fellow Christians across Iraq and other parts of the world are hoping to raise awareness about the fate of Mosul's Christian population.
WE ARE N is an album by Genesiz of The Commission, to raise funds for the persecuted church in Iraq.
"I feel hopeless sitting in the comfort of my home here in Sydney Australia. How can I help?
The more I thought about it, the more I realised I can help. I can bring my sword to the conflict...my pen. I can use music to not only create awareness, but raise funds for those currently being persecuted." -Genesiz
Every dollar will go directly to Open Doors Australia to help the persecuted church in this current genocide in Iraq. So please support. and know you are making a difference and being a voice for the voiceless.
